Mugudun (Jamie Eastwood) started creating amazing paintings under influence of his father- Danny Eastwood, a famous aboriginal cartoonist/ artist and also teacher and aboriginal right activist. His mother Pam Eastwood also an artist from non aboriginal background had a great influence on young Jamie’s life. Working as the “Official Olympic Artist” in Sydney 2000 Olympic Games is one of his great achievements. In one of his interviews he said: “My mission Statement is to achieve reconciliation for all Australians through my Art.
Jamie has been teaching Aboriginal Art & Culture in Universities, TAFE and schools around Australia. He has also been acting as Archaeological site Officer on Aboriginal sites.
Awards:
- 1992 NSW State Aboriginal Artist of the year.
- 2000 Young Australian of the Year –Parramatta area for services to the Art.
- 2000 Centennial Medal presented by Blacktown City council for Art Achievement.
- 2000 Sydney Olympic Games Official Artist for Equestrian jumps.
- 700 metre pathway Mural showing local history of Parramatta area & a current tourist attraction
